People walk among crosses at a mass grave in Kuropaty to commemorate the victims of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin’s regime, on the outskirts of Minsk yesterday. Between 600,000 and 1.5mn people fell victim to the NKVD secret service, predecessor of the present-day Belarussian KGB secret service, during Stalin’s repression in Belarus, according to various estimates.
