ExxonMobil Qatar has participated in a career fair for Qatari students in Washington DC, organised by the Qatari embassy in the United States. The three-day event held from November 1 was attended by HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi and Qatar’s Ambassador to the US Mohamed bin Abdulla al-Rumaihi. It saw representation by the public and private sectors as well as other institutions in Qatar seeking to recruit Qatari students for employment in their current and future plans.  “At ExxonMobil, having Qatari employees on our team is essential to our business and for the future of Qatar’s energy sector,” said Abdullatif al-Naemi, National Development Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar Inc. “There is such a diverse and talented pool of Qatari students abroad and we want to connect with these students as much as possible. The career fair was a wonderful opportunity to extend our recruiting efforts and reach out to young Qataris who boast of strong skill sets and characteristics that can add value locally and compete globally.”More than 700 students were invited to participate in the Career Day, which worked to increase awareness among Qatari students in the US on the myriad of career opportunities available to them in Qatar. The event also served as a networking opportunity and platform from where students could familiarise themselves with government agencies, private companies and other organisations in Qatar, across various industries and sectors. In an effort to attract high-calibre individuals to join its team, ExxonMobil Qatar recruits graduates from local universities and colleges through local career fairs and other events.  The company also recruits qualified candidates from universities around the world. Once hired, new employees undergo a robust programme of formal and on-the job training, which contributes to the development of Qatari nationals for specific and challenging roles within ExxonMobil in Qatar or in one of the company’s global operating locations. ExxonMobil Qatar’s current Qatarisation headcount is 48% and the company is committed to continuing its support of Qatar’s mission to build the capacity of its national workforce and realise the objectives of its National Vision 2030.
