Qatar condemns Israeli settlement activity

Qatar has condemned the Israeli government’s decision approving the construction of 1,500 housing units at Ramat Shlomo settlement in East Jerusalem.

An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Ministry told Qatar News Agency yesterday that Israel’s decision constitutes a breach of international law, and a challenge to the international community.

He pointed out that Israel’s settlement and expansion practices completely ignore the international resolutions and references upon which the peace process is based. It also affects negatively and poses a direct threat to the the peace process, the source added. Qatar has demanded the  international community to take a firm stand obliging Israel to freeze settlement activities, the source said.

 

SCH launches orthodontic health programme today

The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) is launching today the national programme for orthodontic health “A bright simile for a bright future”.

The programme is being implemented for the second straight year by SCH and Colgate Palmolive Arabia for eight weeks at all schools. It aims to raise the awareness of around 9,350 pupils at 46 different schools with 55% increase compared to last year’s participation.

A recent survey revealed that 88% of Qatari and 61% of expatriate children under the age of six years suffer from tooth decay. Further, 62% of Qatari children aged 12 years old suffer from tooth decay with figures dropping to 42% at the same category of expatriate children.
