Awareness session on food safety and hygiene
Qatar Petroleum’s Industrial Cities Directorate has organised an awareness session on food safety and hygiene at the Mesaieed Golf Club. The event was attended by 82 participants consisting of representatives from catering companies operating in Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC), the catering supervisors of QP’s joint ventures and representatives from the area’s recreation clubs. The awareness session included an overview on food hygiene and on the wide range of major food safety issues, including food receiving and storing as well as personal hygiene. Other topics discussed during the event were the five keys to safer food, barbecue safety, butchery best practices, proper defrosting, and cleaning and sanitation. The discussions were followed by a presentation on basic food safety and hygiene. The main objective of the awareness session was to promote understanding of the issues and subsequently achieve high standards in food safety and hygiene practices in catering services.Municipal Regulations senior supervisor Ghanim al-Yafei said similar events would continue to be held in the future. The representatives from catering companies and QP’s joint ventures also thanked Industrial Cities director Abdulaziz Jassim al-Muftah, Industrial Cities Operations manager Abdullatif Ibrahim al-Mohannadi and Municipal Services head Adel Ghaith al-Tamimi for organising the informative session. Six best catering locations namely, QP Refinery, QP Gas Operations, Qapco, Qafco, Qatalum and Q-Chem were awarded appreciation certificates and mementos.
