Qafac joins hands with SAP to boost key operational processes
Qatar Fuel Additives Company (Qafac) has announced that it is joining forces with leading business software company SAP to enhance key operational processes and its overall sustainability performance.
A series of solutions by SAP will give Qafac an edge in contributing to Qatar National Vision 2030 and its goal of becoming one of the world’s top five methanol producers by 2020, according to a statement.
“Qafac is poised for an era of unprecedented growth and ambition. To achieve this in the most responsible and sustainable way possible, we need cutting-edge systems, better agility and improved operations across the company” said Nasser Jeham al-Kuwari, general manager of Qafac. “SAP will both refine our record for excellence and establish a flexible platform for continuous improvement.”
SAP, which is replacing longstanding legacy systems for the project, will deliver solutions related to Enterprise Resource Planning, extended procurement, self-services, talent management, contract lifecycle management, manufacturing integration intelligence as well as business planning and consolidation.
The project will also feature an environment, health and safety solution and, for the first time in Qatar, the implementation of SAP’s Sustainability Performance Management offering. Both solutions are likely to be increasingly important as Qatar places considerable importance on mitigating environmental impact and driving sustainability-led innovations.
Qafac was encouraged to select SAP for this project by the results achieved during an earlier investment in SAP Strategy Management. “Qafac’s history of helping Qatar better utilise its hydrocarbon reserves and promote sustainability is as exemplary as its relentless determination to improve,” said Gergi Abboud, managing director, SAP Gulf. “The production and export of methanol and MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) in an increasingly safe and environment-friendly manner is something SAP is immensely proud to be a part of.”
SAP innovations will also be instrumental in helping Qafac maintain its strong health and safety record, the statement says.
“As part of our Secure Customer Success programme, we will continue to collaborate proactively on several fronts to support Qafac during the implementation cycle,” said Frank Forndron, director of Quality Management at SAP Mena.
