The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) yesterday announced the diversion of traffic around the Arch/Rainbow Roundabout connecting Lusail Street and Omar Al Mukhtar Street from Thursday, October 24.According to a press statement issued on the Ashghal website, the alternative roads would be open to all surrounding areas from October 24 until 2015 to make way for the construction of the Lusail Expressway project.During the construction period, new alternative roads with improved capacity for traffic will be available (see map) to ensure smooth traffic flow in the area.The press statement says all the newly-constructed road diversions feature two to three lanes in each direction, allowing smooth traffic flow around the existing Lusail Street and Omar Al Mukhtar Street.In addition, new signal-controlled junctions have been constructed on the diverted routes to ease traffic flow. All necessary road signs have been installed at diversions to provide clear directions to commuters.
