The Chinese embassy celebrated on Thursday evening the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. HE the Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage, Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari was present at the function. The Chinese ambassador to Qatar, Zhang Zhiliang, said that “the friendly co-operation between China and Qatar has developed by leaps and bounds in recent years”. He pointed out that China admired Qatar for its splendid achievements in social and economic development. “We appreciate HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and the Qatar government’s commitment to the One-China policy. HH the Emir and the Qatari people have rendered staunch support to China on major issues that have a bearing on China’s core interests in sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said the ambassador.He stressed that China was ready to work with Qatar in promoting co-operation and deepening friendship.Zhiliang highlighted the massive development in China over the last 63 years. He said that “especially in the three decades since the reform and opening-up policy was embraced, China has pushed forward its modernisation drive and achieved remarkable development that has been recognised” worldwide. He furthered affirmed China’s commitment to contribute to world peace, development and people’s well-being.
