Popular Indian playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti will perform in Doha on October 18 in a musical show at Regency Halls.The event is organised by Media Plus in association with Non-Resident Overseas Association of Bengal, a global forum of all overseas Indians of Bengal.Working initially with famous composers such as R D Burman and Laxmikant–Pyarelal, the singer has recorded more than 2,000 songs in several Indian languages in the last three decades. Some of her most popular songs include Nayak – Nahin ( Khal Nayak), 1942 – A Love Story, Tu Cheez Badi hei Mast Mast (Mohra), Aankh Maare (Tere Mere Sapne), Tu Hi Re (Bombay), Ishq Bina (Taal), and Aankhon ki Gusthakiyaan (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam).Her songs in Ismail Durbar’s Devdas, are amongst the most popular Hindi film songs ever.She won several National awards and the Film Fare award for the best female singer for three consecutive years (1995 to 1997). She was awarded India’s fourth highest civilian award, the Padmashri in 2005. Kavita is married to the globally acclaimed violinist Dr L Subramanium who will be accompanying her to Doha. Popular stage singer Shurjo will perform along with Kavita in Doha. Shurjo, who has sung in Doha in 2005, has received advanced music training under veteran Manna Dey and Pandit Ajay Chakraborty.
