Qatar Red Crescent is preparing for the opening of two new units of the Medical Commission, according to Aadil al-Bakir, the organisation’s human resources director.

The new facilities are expected to help ease the pressure on  existing Medical Commission, particularly in view of the arrival of a large number of expatriate workers in the run-up to FIFA 2022 World Cup.

The local Arabic daily, Al Sharq, quoted al-Bakir as saying that work on the new units had started three years ago. “The objective is to utilise QRC’s experience in the medical sector and also spread awareness – among around 912,000 workers - about protection from communicable diseases,” the report said.
