Kahramaa park to ‘open in mid-2014’

Work is under way on the construction of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa)’s Awareness Park, which will be opened in mid-2014, local Arabic daily Al Sharq has reported.The park in Al Thumama was announced as part of a national campaign for rationalisation of water and electricity consumption. It will feature a number of facilities, including an auditorium where documentary films on energy rationalisation will be screened, according to the report.In 2011, the park received a Qatar Sustainability Assessment System (QSAS) award for meeting all technical specifications and requirements put up by a committee set up to select the winner. The model of the Awareness Park achieved 5-star QSAS commercial design certification. The park features a design that minimise obstruction of daylight and a landscape that encourages greenery and fights desertification.
