QC inaugurates makeshift village for Syrian refugees

A delegation of Qatar Charity (QC) has recently inaugurated its first makeshift village for the Syrian refugees inside Syria.The village includes 100 housing portacabin units with all sanitary services, in addition to a mosque, a school and a kitchen. The total cost of the project amounted to QR1.7mn, donated by Qataris and expatriates living in Qatar to support the Syrian people in their difficult time. The QC delegation also laid the foundation stone for another village to house more refugees, who had to abandon their homes because of the ongoing situation in Syria. The housing units were furnished with the basic necessities to accommodate a family each. The project was implemented in co-operation with the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH).  A QC delegation visited the Syrian families that received the new units and made sure that they are better accommodated.QC has also implemented health projects that benefited tens of thousands of Syrian refugees inside Syria at an estimate cost of QR2mn.Mohamed bin Ali al-Ghamidi, QC executive director for international development said that such relief projects launched in the course of “Syria: pain and hope” campaign are conducted in phases that take priority according to the most urgent needs of the targeted people. He pointed out that health, food and shelter sectors are among the most important relief issues tackled by QC in Syria. QC has also continued implementing its project to give the wounded Syrians artificial limbs in Tripoli, Lebanon, which so far has benefited around 50 persons, at an estimated cost of QR1.1mn. This project aims at helping the wounded Syrians, who lost any of their limbs, to resume their normal life as soon as possible, especially young people and children.Further, QC has treated more than 2,000 sick persons on the Syrian-Turkish borders. It  has collaborated with other humanitarian relief organisations to treat patients. In the meantime, around 100 young Syrian people were trained jointly by QC and its field partners to work as paramedics, where they were supplied with the appliances and medical supplies to serve an estimated 18,000 wounded Syrians. The project cost stood at around QR730,000. Meanwhile, renowned Saudi Muslim cleric Dr Salman al-Udah urged people to donate to the campaign launched by QC for the relief of the Syrian people. He also appreciated the role of QC in supporting the needy in different spots around the world.
