His Excellency Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, the Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary General, praised Maersk Oil Qatar Company for sponsoring the 7th Schools Olympic Program (SOP) under the theme ‘Sport and Integrity’. |
HE underlined that the support for a three year period reflects the strong commitment of the company which fully assumes its social responsibility towards the community.
The secretary general affirmed that this initiative proves the high level of awareness among the company and its leadership about the important events relating the Schools Olympic Program and in particular those linked to the community sporting initiatives.
His Excellency reiterated that Maersk Oil Qatar leadership taking this initiative clearly reflect the essential role played by the Schools Olympic Program through its various editions, and its positive repercussions on all social categories, being a project that promotes the basis of sport activities in the country.
Sheikh Saoud said the SOP helps discovering talents, thus serving the interest of the clubs and federations, in addition to promoting community sporting activities by gathering youth, celebrating them and establishing cultural events which leave a positive impact on young athletes and inspire them to play a positive role in their community.
HE called at the same time upon national institutions and corporations to accord their interest and support to such activities and programmes which serve the interest of Qatar society.
