Doha-based human rights and legal activist Nizar Kochery has been awarded doctorate in “Entrepreneurship at global level: An NRI perspective” by Singhania University in India’s Rajasthan state.S L Gupta, head of management department at Birla Institute of Technology’s (Noida campus), was his guide in the project, the main work of which was based on the difficulties faced by Indian entrepreneurs abroad in exploring possibilities for setting up independent ventures.Kochery writes legal helpline columns in Gulf Times at regular intervals. Kochery, who is also the president of the Middle East Indian Management Association, a forum of Indian professionals working in the GCC and others areas in the region, has pointed out the numerous hurdles encountered by aspiring business professionals at different levels. The rights activist has also pointed out that studies undertaken by several agencies and institutions have found that most Indian students going abroad, in particular to the western countries for higher education is doing so for landing better employment opportunities and only a few of them would eventually turn out as entrepreneurs owing to the lack of financial and other assistance in the countries where they are based for employment.
