Shopping mall to organise Fast-a-thon on Saturday
Hyatt Plaza Shopping Mall, in co-operation with Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah al-Thani’s Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF), will organise Fast-a-thon 2013, a charity event to help the Syrian refugees, on Saturday. |
The participants should be non-Muslims. They can register online at fastathon@hyattplaza.com or in person at the customer service centre of Hyatt Plaza. They can also call Hyatt Plaza customer service at 44999666.
People who wish to participate in this event are invited to attend an orientation session tomorrow at 4pm at the Hyatt Plaza food court, to get information on how to fast as well as the dos and don’ts while fasting.
On Saturday, an Iftar party will be organised for all the participants to break the fast, and QR200 will be donated by Hyatt Plaza and RAF on behalf of each participant for the Syrian refugees.
“Over the years, through Fast-a-thon, we have created a common platform for people to come forward and join hands for a noble cause. Being a socially responsible mall, Hyatt Plaza always strives to take that extra mile and give back to the people in need,” said Feroz Moideen, general manager, Hyatt Plaza.
“The living conditions of Syrian refugees, including children, women and the disabled are disheartening and they need our immediate support. We are glad that we join hands with Hyatt Plaza to help the Syrian refugees. We hope Fast-a-thon will provide an ideal venue to educate and brief more people about the grave situation Syrian refugees are living through,” said Sheikh Aied al-Qahtani, chairman, RAF.
“We hope Fast-a-thon will provide comfort to thousands of Syrian refugees and we believe more people will join us this year, to create a greater social impact,” Moideen added.
