Qatar urges Egyptians to exercise self-restraint

Qatar yesterday expressed deep concern over the “regrettable” incidents that had occurred on Sunday evening in various parts of Egypt, resulting in death and injury of dozens, a Foreign Ministry official source told Qatar News Agency (QNA).

After offering condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, the source called on all Egyptians “to exercise self-restraint at this critical stage of Egypt’s history, which requires cohesion, strengthening of national unity and finding early solutions after settling differences through dialogue in order to maintain the security, safety and stability of their country and to protect citizens”.

The source affirmed that Qatar “strongly condemns such regrettable incidents which lead to the taking of innocent lives, destabilisation of security and stability and terrorising of people”.

The source called for “the renunciation of violence in all its forms and manifestations and for seeking a political, national and honouring solution to the crisis in Egypt, that preserves the civil and political rights of all and guarantees the protection of the achievements of the January 25 revolution
