Total in Qatar has held its second beach clean-up campaign alongside QP at Halul, an island located around 80km northeast of Doha, in order to raise awareness on environmental issues and preservation.Following the success of the first beach clean-up in Halul in November 2011, Total organised another campaign in June, with the aim of keeping the island clean and therefore contributing to the preservation of the seashore ecosystem. Halul is an island offshore Qatar on which are located the facilities processing the production of several neighbouring oil and gas fields, in particular Al Khalij offshore field operated by Total. A team of volunteers consisting of Total in Qatar and Qatar Petroleum employees surveyed the island and gathered up litter to help clean up the area. “Through our activities, we are present in all parts of the world: on land and at sea, and from densely populated areas to desert regions. It is our responsibility to protect these different environments. Halul beach clean-up campaigns show once again Total’s commitment to preserving biodiversity,” said Pascal Taillefer, vice president, Al-Khalij Asset.
