‘Indianness’ should be promoted at the international level: Tharoor

Federal Minister of State for Human Resource Development Dr Shashi Tharoor yesterday inaugurated the smart classrooms and Success Line, a programme aimed at improving quality of education. Recognised by the state government, Ma’din runs various facilities such as an orphanage, schools, colleges, and a technical centre. “Educators should concentrate on promotion of Indianness at international level and it should be the aim of educational and social institutions,” the minister said. “In this modern world, we have to live along with others and respect each other. He also urged the students to uphold their unique identity while adapting to changing modern aspects of life. The students have a responsibility to avail of all modern facilities to make them suitable for new technical developments and the modern world. Ma’din Academy is doing an excellent work in promoting Indianness and Islamic culture and its value system through the efforts of Sayyid Bukhari Thangal, adding that the academy’s active efforts in spreading the message of moderation and harmony are the need of the time.Ma’din chairman Sayyid Ibrahim Khaleel Al Bukhari presided over the function. Dr K K N Kurup, director general of Ma’din Academia for Research and International Studies and a former vice-chancellor of Calicut University, Dr Hussain Randathani, director of the Ma’din academic council; Unni Poker Master, principal of Ma’din Public School and Abdul Jaleel Saqafi Kadalundi, president of the Sunni Students Federation attended the function. The minister handed over the Success Line life achievement award to Abdul Rahiman Haji, managing director of Baniyas Group of Companies, Abu Dhabi.
