Qatar Foundation International (QFI) is supporting the 20th annual iEARN conference and 17th annual Youth Summit, hosted by Reach Out to Asia (Rota), by providing travel scholarships to support a group of educators from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, and the US to participate in the conference.

The annual iEARN International Conferences and Youth Summit are a unique opportunity for educators, students, administrators, ministry officials, and non-profit, and corporate partners, to meet and discuss innovative uses of technology to build global understanding and enhance teaching and learning.

In addition to attending the conference, a group of 18 teachers from Argentina, Brazil, Canada and the US are leading a session on how to use video production as a means of cross-cultural collaboration.

While the session focuses on production team roles, co-ordination and accountability, it will also debut a collaboration project between students from middle and high schools in Doha, Washington DC and Brasilia focused on football.

An international group of students came together for this project through QFI to create one video about the role of football in their lives. The lessons these students learned working across both physical and cultural bridges will be highlighted at the session, along with a step-by-step process for organising a production team across cultures, languages, and oceans.

Laura Andrea Golubic, one of the teachers attending from Argentina, commented, “I think the personal contact with teachers and students from other countries and cultures is something that I will treasure forever as I will be able to see first hand how they work in other places in the fields of ICT and Special Education. We are always in need of new and different strategies, and a conference like this I’m sure will give me the opportunity of learning and sharing more.”
