Major retailer Jumbo Electronics is embarking on an expansion drive by opening five more outlets across Qatar within a week.Besides LG, Jumbo represents more than 40 international brands including Harmon Kardon, Brother, Indesit, Ariston, Nikai and JBL.The new outlets are Jumbo Electronics and Harman House (Al Khor Mall), Harman House (Pearl Qatar), Jumbo Electronics (Dukhan Souq), Jumbo Lifestyle and Harman House (Fereej Al Nasr) and Jumbo Hi Tech (Al Watan Complex - Al Matar Street).All the new showrooms have been laid out in a “very modern and contemporary style” and will be according to “international standards” of store design and layout, “customer paths and visual merchandising.” The first in the series of new Jumbo outlets will be opened in Dukhan today morning, Video Home & Jumbo Electronics director and general manager C V Rappai said at a press conference yesterday. With these, Jumbo Electronics will have 16 outlets across the country.“We are looking at more locations including Shamal,” Rappai said referring to the company slogan “Wherever you go; there is a Jumbo showroom near you.”He said Qatar’s rapid economic expansion has resulted in the development of new popular locations across the country. In view of Qatar’s unprecedented growth, there is a steady influx of people into the country.“Currently, we have some 40,000 footfall across our network in Qatar. By adding five more outlets, we target up to a 40% increase in footfall,” Rappai said.He said the 16 showrooms also provided about 8,000 sq m of “selling area,” one of the largest in the country’s consumer electronics segment.Asked whether the emergence of malls and hypermarkets challenged exclusive distributorships, Rappai said: “There is space for everyone in this market.”While Jumbo Electronics is the “one stop shop” for all consumer electronics, IT products, mobiles and home appliances, Harman House will be the exclusive showroom for “iconic and award winning” audio products from JBL, Harman Kardon & AKG.Video Home & Jumbo Electronics holds the franchise for Harman House in Qatar.Backed by more than 30 years of retail experience in consumer electronics, Video Home & Jumbo Electronics, the sole distributor of LG Electronics, recently launched its ‘Care & Delight’ mobile service centre that will tour the country offering on-the-spot technical support to customers.Video Home & Jumbo Electronics executive director Sajid Jassim Sulaiman said the “mobile service centre” is a testimony to the company’s focus on its customers beyond the “product sale.”“We have generations of customers with us.
