Seminar to explore evolution of wireless technology
Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) is set to host a TECHtalks seminar to address latest developments in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector. To be held from 5pm to 7pm on June 25 at the QSTP premises, the event will feature Dr Amer I El-Saigh, head of networks at Vodafone Qatar, as the guest speaker.Dr El-Saigh will address how the advent of new wireless technologies is set to revolutionise the telecommunications sector in Qatar as well as globally. A specialist in the field, he has been instrumental in the development and rollout of technologies in Germany and Qatar. He has also led various collaborative research initiatives with academic institutions in Qatar, including Texas A&M University (TAMUQ), where he was an adjunct associate professor. Dr El-Saigh’s presentation will be followed by a session in which a panel of experts will deliberate on key issues. The panel will include Dr Adnan Abu-Dayya, executive director of Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre. His expertise includes 10 years at AT&T Wireless in Seattle, USA, where he was involved in a range of product innovations and emerging technologies, systems engineering and product realisation. Prof Khalid Qaraqe from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, TAMUQ, will also be part of the panel. Prof Qaraqe has over 12 years of expertise in the telecommunications industry and has been involved in numerous GSM, CDMA and WCDMA projects, specialising in product development, design, deployment, testing and integration of networks. The third panellist is Dr Pascal Dutru, head of strategy and policy at ictQATAR. Dr Dutru has extensive experience in the litigation and regulatory aspects of the telecommunication sector.
