Kahramaa launches fast-track service

In a bid to minimise the waiting time, Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has launched a fast-track service for the disabled, elderly and women at main office customer service in Al Hilal.Kahramaa said the new service gives the special needs customers, elderly people and women the priority in receiving services at the customer service. The A and B tracks have been assigned for them for installations and customer care requests respectively. The fast-track initiative reflects Kahramaa’s social responsibility and commitment to providing high quality service to customers. For the realisation of this purpose, Kahramaa has launched an application on iPhone beside several electronic services including service tracking for building permit or connection services via Kahramaa website www.km.qa and other services.Publications of electricity data planned: President of Kahramaa and chairman of Arab Union of Electricity (AUE) Essa bin Hilal al-Kuwari chaired the 38th board meeting of AUE held in Yemen  last week. Speaking at the opening session, al-Kuwari praised commitment of the members to achieving AUE goals like development of electricity sector in the region. Reviewing the activity of the current session, he disclosed AUE is all set to issue publications on Arab electricity statistics, interconnection maps and other significant publications in the coming months.Al-Kuwari also talked about issues of main interest such as Arab electricity marker, renewable energy, energy efficiency among others. “Since the inception in 1987, AUE has attained various achievements. It is now one of the active and effective bodies on the Arab and international arena. AUE participated in activities aimed to serve Arab electricity sector,” he said, adding: “We have to anticipate the future by setting plans to develop AUE to meet the current and future requirements.” The event witnessed presentations from board members on various technical aspects of AUE and its challenges. It was the second meeting in the current session (2013–2015) chaired by al-Kuwari. The first meeting was held in Doha, earlier this year.Presentation on conservation: Kahramaa is participating at the ongoing Energy and Water Conservation Expo & Forum 2013 in Bahrain. The utility is being represented at the event with a delegation headed by Ali Mohammed al-Ali, senior engineer and manager, conservation and energy efficiency department.Kahramaa will make presentations on various aspects of energy and water conservation drives in Qatar. A detailed presentation on the corporation’s ongoing national campaign for conservation and efficient use of water and electricity (Tarsheed) will also be made at one of the sessions.The event is being organised by the Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Affairs Authority (EWA) and the Bahrain Society of Engineers under the theme of “Towards Sustainable Development”.The forum will address technical issues related to energy and water conservation in the region, and focus on the latest developments and challenges in the arena of conservation technology, alternative energy, green buildings and sustainable energy among others.The participants will also discuss the ways and means to consolidate the infrastructure of the electricity sector, alternative energy sources and conservation efforts in the region.
