PIA upgrades aircraft, doubles passenger capacity

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced upgrading of its aircraft from today for services between Qatar and Pakistan. Khalid Hamid, Country Manager, PIA Qatar,  said: “ A-310 wide bodied aircraft will double passenger capacity as well as 10 tonnes of additional cargo.”  The A310 is replacing the B737 aircraft. Hamid, a member of the Pakistani team that won the Hockey Gold Medal in 1984 Olympics, has recently taken over as PIA’s country manager from Ali Mohamed Mahar, who has been posted back to Pakistan. Hamid has served earlier in  Dubai, Lahore and Sialkot stations.“I enjoy challenges being a sportsman,”  Hamid said.  “ PIA is passing through its most difficult and challenging times, but I do believe that with the support of the Pakistani community, we will overcome.”He assured the community that by September, the flights situation will be much better and comfortable.The Airbus 310 will be flying to Peshawar & Lahore on Sundays and for Islamabad & Lahore on Tuesdays.
