Qatar District Cooling Company (Qatar Cool) has achieved 1mn work hours, from January 2009 to June 2013, with only 32 lost work hours due to minor injury.   With district cooling recognised as the most efficient, cost effective and environment-friendly solution to satisfy the country’s growing cooling demands, Qatar Cool is committed to its “safety first, last and always” culture and the goal of eliminating injuries in the workplace. “Qatar Cool is committed to effective implementation of our health, safety and environment (HSE) policy and continued improvement of our HSE performance. Achieving this milestone is the result of management commitment, regular training and awareness sessions, motivated and committed employees, focused hazard/risk analysis and job safety analysis, to name a few. This is done by a team that is highly focused and pays attention to personal and team safety,” a Qatar Cool representative said. Qatar Cool’s policies and initiatives are aimed at ensuring that everyone goes home unhurt, every day. These include providing appropriate HSE training to all employees, contractors and visitors, undertaking regular risk assessments and developing management programmes to address identified risks. Qatar Cool also undertakes regular measurement and monitoring of applicable environmental parameters to comply with relevant regulatory requirements. HSE has become part of Qatar Cool’s DNA and work culture, completing more than 6,000 hours of safety training in the past three years while delivering cutting-edge technology and energy-efficient utilities to fulfil the country’s growing cooling requirements.
