A delegation representing Taiwan’s photovoltaic industry recently visited Qatar seeking opportunities in the country.

Delegation head Wang Chien-Yeh, who is also senior adviser to the PV Association, Taiwan, said the mission’s target was not only aimed at facilitating business co-operation between participating firms and their counterparts in the Middle East, but also to bolster trade relationship between Taiwan and the GCC countries.

“Taiwan is a major producer of solar cells and with Qatar having plenty of sunshine, there is no reason why we can’t further business between the two sides,” he said.

The delegation comprised representatives of major Taiwanese PV firms such as TSMC Solar (TSMC) and Green Energy Technology (Tatung) besides experts from the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI).

The Taiwanese delegation visited the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met Remy Rowhani, QCCI secretary general among others.

Qatar is the 20th largest trading partner for Taiwan and the fourth largest in the Middle East.
