Institution forms special chapter for AMIE students

Members who gathered at the formation of AMIE students chapter in Qatar under the aegis of the Institution of Engineers (Qatar chapter) recently at Telugu Cultural Academy
The Qatar chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India) has formed a special chapter for the candidates appearing for Associate Member of the Institute of Engineering (AMIE) examination.The maiden meeting of the chapter, held at Telugu Cultural Academy hall in Al Hilal, was attended by 40 students.The forum said in a statement that there were about 150 Qatar-based students who are appearing for either Section A or Section B examination that the institution has been holding for several years. The AMIE is recognised by the Government of India and many educational bodies across the world. It is considered to be the equivalent to bachelor degree in engineering. The facility is available in 13 engineering branches, said an official.The AMIE, he said, provides opportunity to diploma holders in engineering and other persons who have passed higher secondary examinations in science stream to become graduate engineers.The Institution of Engineers (India) – Qatar Chapter has been conducting the examinations twice a year under the supervision and invigilation of the Indian embassy. “It is a unique opportunity for those who are unable to pursue regular engineering study due to various reasons. A large number of persons are getting benefit from this unique opportunity,” the official said.Honorary chairman of the institution Debashish Roy welcomed the gathering and explained the advantages of forming the chapter. He also answered queries raised by the AMIE students.A brief presentation on the institution and the chapter history, formation of the chapter and requirements and benefits of the chapter was made by the institution’s secretary, Abdul Sathar.Founder secretary of the institution Animesh Sarkar chaired the meeting. Prakash Rao, the CEO of Diplomat group WLL and the president of the Telugu Cultural Academy, spoke.Institution joint secretary Dipak Dahake proposed a vote of thanks.
