Gereon Burster, principal of the German International School Doha, receives the proceeds of the raffle draw, as Angelika Storz-Chakarji, the German ambassador to Qatar and other dignitaries look on.The fourth annual May Ball, jointly organised by the German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar (AHK) and the German Business Council Qatar (GBCQ), raised QR11,640 for charitable purposes. The event took place at the Hilton Hotel on Friday, Pupils from the German International School of Doha sold raffle tickets at the event. Proceeds were donated to the school for educational development. Angelika Storz-Chakarji, the German ambassador to Qatar said, “This broad interest in the May Ball, shows how closely knit the ties within the business community in Doha are. German-Qatari business and trade relations are on a growth path.” This year’s May Ball was attended by 230 German and international entrepreneurs and guests. “This event is a great networking opportunity to strengthen trade relations between German and local businesses,” said Herbert Longitsch, business unit manager at Zublin International Qatar WLL. Zublin was the diamond sponsor of the event.The highlight of the event was the host, Mohamed Fahad Kamal, the first Qatari stand-up comedian and co-founder of Stand Up Comedian Qatar (SUCQ). Platinum sponsors of the event include Lufthansa and Gulf Agency Company Qatar. The German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar (AHK) is the official institution authorised by the German federal government and the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce.
