Pak Shamaa, one of the oldest expatriate schools in Qatar, is to provide the University of Cambridge Education at its Doha campus soon, a school official has said. The new stream, one of the world’s most reputable system of education, comprises the Cambridge primary, secondary and higher secondary classes. Official consent for the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) has been secured by the school, the official said. “Examination centre approval procedures are underway so that the first batch of Pak Shamaa Cambridge exams could be held towards the end of 2013.”To aid in the launch of the Cambridge curriculum, Pak Shamaa is liaising with the British Council on various preparatory requirements while enjoying active support from CIE’s representatives for Middle East and North Africa. Besides the external compliance and preparatory activities, Pak Shamaa is now in the process of making certain structural changes in its newly built school to accommodate the first batch of Cambridge students. Extensive structural renovations coupled with interior remodelling of classrooms, smart-boards, computer facilities are also underway.Founded in 1958, Pak Shamaa is one of the oldest expatriate schools in Doha having served hundreds of thousands of students, mostly from Pakistan but also from other countries like Egypt, Algeria, India and Nepal. The launch ceremony of the Cambridge Curriculum will be held on June 30 at 5pm in Jinnah hall of the school.“Three generations of students from the same family – father, son and grandson - have all studied at this school. Such a consistency of achievement can be matched by very few private schools in Doha. “While Pak Shamaa has withstood the test of time and has proven its ability to evolve over the last 50 years, it is now poised to raise the bar by launching a new initiative,” the school official concluded.
