Girls clinch top honours in CBSE Grade 12 examination

Syeda Razia Haider (of MES Indian School) and Anagha Ann Gopakumar (DPS-Modern Indian School) topped the Science and Commerce streams respectively in the Grade 12 examination of India’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the results of which were declared yesterday.Haider secured 97% (485/500 marks) and Gopakumar scored 96.4%  (482/500) to clinch top honours among the nearly 960 students who took examination from the six Indian schools offering Grade 12 courses of the CBSE Examination.MES Indian School, DPS-Modern Indian School, Ideal Indian School, Birla Public School, Shantiniketan Indian School and Doha Modern Indian School are the seven schools offering the CBSE Grade 12 courses.Birla Public School (BPS) students Jenet Sara Jacob (96.8%) and Shamin Valencia Fernandez (95.6%) secured second positions in both the Science and Commerce streams, with the latter sharing honours with Jayne James of Ideal Indian School (IIS), who also has an identical score of 95.6%.BPS’ Tina Bharani (95.8%) and Maimoona Sahar (94.8%) of DPS-MIS were third in Science and Commerce respectively.In all of the 487 students (which is more than 52% of the total number of students appeared from Qatar) who took exams from MES Indian School, 50 students secured 90% or above. This was the school’s 30th Grade 12 batch. Two of their students, Syeda Razia Haider and Diya Chandra have got A1 in all five subjects.At DPS-MIS, 32 students secured 90% or above.  The school also has five students who secured A1 in all five subjects in their respective steams.  They are Anangha Ann Gopakumar, Nayana Shibu Deepthi, Maimoona Sahar, Anjali Anil Valappil and S Sathya Priyanka. Birla Public School has the distinction of seven children scoring A1 in all five subjects and 45 of its 77 students securing 95/100 in English Core subject.
