‘Passport to passion’ to bring the best out of young footballers
The Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development will host its trademark ‘Passport to Passion’ challenges this weekend to attract youngsters into accepting sporting challenge to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The event will take place at the Awsaj Academy pitch at Qatar Foundation’s main campus on 24-25 May and will provide another opportunity for youngsters to demonstrate their footballing prowess.The ‘Passport to Passion’ series is part of the ‘Passion Drives Us All’ initiative that is designed around Qatar Foundation’s partnership with FC Barcelona. Over the last few weeks, hundreds of players have participated in the weekend challenges and shared this special experience with family and friends. The sessions continue to demonstrate Qatar Foundation’s commitment to community development through the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.The fifth and final challenge, which is being held from 4pm to 6pm each day, promises to be even more fast-paced and entertaining for youngsters and their families.Footballers aged between five and 15 will have the opportunity to perfect a number of essential footballing skills including ball control, obstacles courses, passing accuracy, coordination and heading ability.They will then get the chance to express themselves in a five-a-side competition designed to test every attendee’s endurance, agility and overall technical skills on the pitch. Professional trainers will once again be on hand to provide support to individual teams.Participants will also be expected to work as part of a team and to demonstrate a spirit of sportsmanship during a testing sequence of relay races that will challenge their resilience and determination. Players will be required to dribble the ball, stop it with the sole of their foot, run and tag another team member, and race back to retrieve the ball before finally dribbling it back.In keeping with the programme’s primary objective of reaching out to young people, the ‘Passport to Passion’ finale aims to unite young football enthusiasts.
