In recognition of its ‘world-class safety, health and environmental performance in 2011’, ExxonMobil presented RasGas with the ExxonMobil Development Company President’s Safety Award at a ceremony held here recently.  Mark Nolan, vice president (Middle East and Australia), ExxonMobil Development Company presented the award to David Frye, RasGas Subsurface Technical Group manager. The recipients were selected from a number of finalists world-wide for the award. After a comprehensive review of their 2011 performance, RasGas became one of only nine organisations to receive the award. “Throughout the year, RasGas’ Subsurface Group demonstrated an exceptional commitment to excellence in the areas of safety, health and environmental performance, resulting in more than 16mn hours worked without a lost time incident. This is a reflection of the strong safety culture that RasGas has been able to establish and maintain over the past years,” said Nolan.  “This recognition is a great honour for RasGas given the utmost importance we place on safety, health and environmental performance at all levels of our organisation,” said RasGas managing director Hamad Rashid al-Mohannadi.“In the last few years, RasGas has grown to become one of the largest suppliers of LNG and an important player in the global energy industry.  The fact that we have been able to accomplish this with the impressive safety results that we have enjoyed is also a testament to the support we have received from our shareholders – Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil.”This is the third EMDC Award for RasGas and the second time RasGas’ Subsurface Group has been recognised.  In 2008, the group was acknowledged as a pacesetting technical team in Qatar responsible for managing several blocks of the North Field reservoir, the largest non-associated natural gas reservoir in the world, from planning through development and monitoring.
