QBWA organising workshop

The workshop is being organised in conjunction with its coveted QBWA award, which will be held in November.

The association said the theme will be incorporated in the training plan that will cover three out of the five criteria of the award, namely: leadership, future goals and financial plans, and innovation.

This professional development qualification has been specifically developed for the QBWA and is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

“We are very pleased with the progress and the popularity that QBWA award is witnessing, and equally pleased to see this number of established women who want to compete for the award this year, which reflects the positive economic climate and the growth that Qatar is witnessing,” said Aisha Alfardan, vice chairperson, QBWA.

The award is in line with the objectives of the association through the ongoing efforts to recognise women and celebrate their achievements, she added.

The award ceremony will be held on November 11 as part of the activities of the fourth edition of Qatar International Businesswomen Forum at the St Regis Doha Hotel on November 11 and 12.

QBWA was established in 2000 to enhance women’s contribution to the economic activity which constitutes a real gain both to Qatari women and the society at large. It is chaired by Sheikha al-Anood bint Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani, and managed by a number of prominent businesswomen who have a history of success in many businesses in different sectors that they work in or manage.

The association has played a distinguished role in enhancing women’s contribution to push the economic wheel towards the strategic growth being witnessed today, and in line with the country’s vision. It is also a founding member of Middle East and North Africa Businesswomen Network, which includes members from 10 countries, and it is becoming a role model through its active participation and best practices.
