West Bengal Police yesterday quizzed four more people, including a director of one of the Saradha Group of companies, as 41 vehicles of the group were “secured” in the aftermath of the collapse of the chit fund company. |
“We have interrogated four more people. One is a director while two are business associates. The fourth person’s name came up during (arrested Saradha promoter) Sudipto Sen’s interrogation,” Bidhannagar Deputy Commissioner of Police Arnab Ghosh told mediapersons here yesterday.
“We have sent out more notices and two more people will be interrogated today,” added Ghosh.
According to sources, the four people summoned are Sajjan Agarwal, Devika Dasgupta, Amitabh Sarkar and Debabrata Sarkar.
Ghosh told reporters that Dasgupta, director of one of the group’s companies, worked from the group’s south Kolkata office in Dhakuria as a programme analyst and was unaware that she had been made the director.
“She did not have any degree in software programming. She had a diploma in tourism and was doing her MBA. She had joined the group in mid-2008 as an entry level employee on a salary of Rs 6,000. Later, she was hoodwinked into signing her appointment letter for the director’s post. She claims she did not know that she was being made the director. She blindly signed it,” Ghosh said.
Police also confiscated a Mercedes Benz Monday, which belonged to Sen’s son Shubhojeet.
“It was found in a garage of an aide of Sen in south Kolkata. That person will also be interrogated,” Ghosh said.
So far 40 vehicles have been “secured”, according to Ghosh, besides the Mercedes.
Police claimed Sajjan Agarwal and Sen were “business associates”.
