Lecture on ‘Ethical limits to artistic expression’

The Centre for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE), a member of the Qatar faculty of Islamic Studies at Qatar Foundation, will hold a public lecture tomorrow on ‘Ethical limits to Artistic Expression: Islamic Perspective’  at the Middle East Centre of Oxford University in the UK.

This event is part of a series of specialised seminars and public lectures organised by CILE, combining both scholars of Islamic Law and scholars of the context in one forum to tackle current issues in various fields and professions including methodology, bioethics, environment, politics, food, psychology, media, economics, education, arts and gender issues.

This lecture will be organised in tandem with CILE specialised seminar on ‘Art and Ethics’ at Oxford University from today till Thursday.

Participants in the lecture include CILE deputy director Professor Jasser Auda, Jonas Otterbeck from Sweden’s Lund University and Canadian script writer and filmmaker Zarqa Nawaz.

The lecture will be introduced by CILE executive director professor Tariq Ramadan.
