Children test their football skills.
The next edition of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development’s “Passport to Passion” challenge will be held at Aspire Park on May 3 and 4.
The challenge is part of an ongoing series of activities within the Passion Drives Us All initiative, which is designed around QF’s partnership with FC Barcelona.
In keeping with the programme’s objective to reach out to young people from across the country, the weekend sessions will be held from 3pm to 6pm in various locations around Doha in order to engage the local community in football activities and professional coaching sessions.
Hundreds of young football enthusiasts took part in the first challenge at the Museum of Islamic Art Park last weekend.
At every event, participants will receive a special, custom-made “Passport to Passion” and be given “success stamps” upon completion of each activity. Any sports and football enthusiast aged between five and 15 years can attend and try to complete the series of skill tests.
The challenge will culminate in a grand finale at the Awsaj Academy pitch in QF in late May.
Rashed al-Qurese, QF’s deputy director of communication, said: “Qatar Foundation recognises the significance of involving the younger generation in all kinds of sporting activities, given their major impact on their physical and intellectual health. We aim to facilitate sports events for youth of all ages across Qatar to participate and engage in, as this will help us achieve our mission of establishing a healthy society that can keep up with the nation’s rapid growth.”
The “Passport to Passion” schedule is as follows: Aspire Park (May 3 and 4), Katara Beach (May 10 and 11), Al Wakrah Park (May 17 and 18) and Awsaj Academy pitch 4, QF (May 24 and 25).
