Anti-Smoking Society officials and supporters pledging their effort to the cause
The Anti-Smoking Society-Qatar marked the ‘World No Tobacco Day’ (WNTD) over the weekend with a discussion involving people from various backgrounds like students, parents, social workers, businessmen and socio-cultural activists and community members. The meeting observed that a combined move to control the tobacco epidemic can bring positive change in the society. Inaugurating the activities of the society, City Exchange CEO Sharaf P Hameed offered his support and cooperation in creating awareness in society. “It is our corporate social responsibility and we are privileged to join in this campaign,” he said. “Some people say it is not our concern as we don’t smoke. It is not true as second-hand smoking is highly dangerous. “Ensuring a smoke-free environment is the only effective measure to protect the public – including women and children, and people at their workplaces – from exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke, and all have to play their role in ensuring this coveted goal.”
