Benefits of district cooling highlighted on Earth Day

Qatar Cool engaged with more than 200 local students at an event.

Qatar District Cooling Company (Qatar Cool) engaged with more than 200 local students at a special Earth Day event, organised by Qatar Foundation International (QFI) on Monday, at the Student Centre of Hamad bin Khalifa University.

With district cooling being recognised as the most efficient, cost-effective and environment-friendly solution to satisfy Qatar’s growing cooling demands, Qatar Cool was keen to join with the local community to promote initiatives that protected the planet. 

The Qatar Cool stand at the event displayed information on district cooling and its benefits for the environment. In addition, a section of the exhibition hall was dedicated to an interactive game hosted by Qatar Cool, which simulated the district cooling process through a competition between students.

This is the fourth consecutive year in which Qatar Cool has participated in Earth Day celebrations. A company representative said, “During the event, we were able to reach out to students and inform them about district cooling systems that are significantly more cost-effective over the long term than conventional solutions, while at the same time caring for the environment, working to reduce carbon emissions and consuming 30-60% less energy than conventional cooling.”

Qatar Cool also recently took part in the global Earth Hour initiative organised by the World Wildlife Fund as well as No Paper Day.
