Qatar and Macedonia signed an agreement and a memorandum of understanding following a session of official talks chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani, and Macedonia’s Premier Nikola Gruevski here yesterday. |
The talks reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and means of enhancing them in all aspects, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The meeting was attended by the ministers accompanying the Premier, and a number of Macedonian ministers.
Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim and the Macedonian premier witnessed the signing of a co-operation agreement between the two governments in the field of health, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its Macedonian counterpart.
Later the Prime Minister met Macedonia’s President Dr George Ivanov.
They reviewed bilateral relations and issues of common interest.
An official reception ceremony was held for the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister upon his arrival in the Macedonian capital, Skopje.
The Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation were welcomed at Skopje’s Alexander the Great Airport by Macedonia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski and a number of senior officials in the Macedonian government.

National Day greetings sent
HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to the Queen of Denmark on the occasion of her country’s National Day.
Advisory Council committee meets
The Advisory Council’s Services and Public Utilities Committee met yesterday under its Rapporteur Saqr Fahed Limrakhei and discussed a draft law amending some provisions of the labour law issued as per law No 14 of 2004.
The committee decided to refer its relevant report to the Advisory Council later.
Then the committee studied a draft law concerning the social health insurance system and decided to complete its study in a later meeting.
Ministerial decisions
HE the Minister of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak al-Kuwari has issued two ministerial decisions appointing Mohamed Lahdan al-Mohannadi as assistant to the director general of Awqaf general directorate and Khalifa Jassim al-Kubaisi as director of the department of endowment banks at Awqaf general directorate.
Awqaf General Directorate is responsible for the overall supervision of endowments in Qatar and its primary function is to manage and invest endowment funds in an economic basis in accordance with Shariah (Islamic law) .
