HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani received Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the Emiri Diwan. They discussed bilateral relations and ways to expand them. The latest developments of the Palestinian issue, particularly the Arab peace initiative, were also reviewed. HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani attended the meeting. The Emir later hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Palestinian president and the delegation accompanying him. Also yesterday, Qatar and Palestine signed a memorandum of understanding for co-operation on security. The MoU was signed for the Qatari side by HE the Minister of State for Interior Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and for the Palestinian side by Interior Minister Dr Saeed Bu Ali.
