Imran Khan releases poll manifesto

Imran Khan, International cricketer-turned politician and head of the opposition political party Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (Movement for Justice), is flanked by party leaders former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Makhdoom Javed Hashmi as they announce the party’s manifesto for the upcoming general elections in Islamabad, yesterday. Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is expected to make a strong showing in the 11 May election, which is also contested by the parties of President Asif Ali Zardari and former premier Nawaz Sharif. Pakistan’s May 11 elections which will mark the first-ever transition from one elected civilian government to another in the country’s 65-year history.
