Concert to feature top Bangladeshi artistes

The Bangladesh Cultural Forum (BCF) is set to host a musical show, Diamond World Ltd - Bangla Vision Boishakhi Concert, at Al Arabi Stadium from 6pm to 12midnight on April 12. The concert will be presented by Safari Mall.

The event will feature performances by famed singer James and several other artistes, including Hridoy Khan, Ferdous Wahid, Habib Wahid, Riya, Nancy, Samina Chowdhury, Bindu, Nipun, Rumana and others.

The multi-talented James is composer, lead guitarist and vocalist of the Bangladeshi rock band, Nogor Baul. He has also had a successful stint as a playback singer in Bollywood, giving hits like Bheegi Bheegi (Gangster), Chal chale (Woh Lamhe) and Alvida reprise and Rishtey (Life in a Metro).

Hridoy is the youngest music composer in Bangladesh as well as a singer. His first album, Hridoy Mix, featured various artistes and the hit song Chaina Meye.

Habib, another highlight of the event, is Bangladesh’s first musician to create songs using digital technology.

Nancy, a highly popular singer, started her career with legendary music director Habib Wahid and the song Hridoyer Kotha. She then gave hits like Prithibir joto shukh, Hawai hawai dolna dole, Godhuli logon and Didha. Her first solo album, Bhalobasha odhora, was released in 2010.

Chowdhury, another well-known singer, was one of the judges of the reality TV show CloseUp1 on NTV. She won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2006.

The line-up of artistes also includes actresses Rumana, Bindu and Nipun. Rumana has done films with leading actor Shakib Khan and others.

The show will also feature Riya, a model-cum-actress, whose popular works include advertisements and TV productions.

Mohamed Nasiruddin, charge d’affaires at the Bangladeshi embassy, will be the chief guest at the event. BCF president Md Ohid Bhuiyan said, “More than 4,000 music lovers will enjoy the concert.”
