Waiting for the new opening date

A number of my friends were keenly looking forward to the opening of the new Hamad International Airport (HIA) and thought that their wish would come true on April 1 when 10 airlines were expected to start their service from there. Alas, that did not happen. Has it anything to do with the day being April 1, I wonder!
Man proposes, God disposes, as the saying goes. The Civil Defence authorities did not give the necessary security clearance and the opening has now been rescheduled. It was a disappointing turn of events, for sure.
But I am sure our turn will come shortly to enjoy the new facility. And I am sure that it will meet all our expectations.

The ‘inauspicious’ day of April 1

April 1 is unofficially designated as the “All Fools’ Day”. On this day we play pranks on our friends and relatives, but not on our bosses (that’s too dangerous). Humour your bosses but never make fun of them, especially in front of their eyes.
Incidentally, I believe the announcement that the new Hamad International Airport (HIA) would start operations from April 1 had nothing to do with the day’s reputation. Gulf Times in its April 1 issue stated that the inauguration had been put off.
Are all Gulf Times readers to believe that they have been fooled? Maybe or maybe not, depending upon how serious the “glitch” was.
To the 10 airlines that were selected to be the first to arrive and depart from the new airport on April 1, one can merrily tell them to look upon it as an “inauspicious” day and wait till the facility is ready and perfectly fit.
