Metabo defeat Al Shaqab for title

Metabo defeated Al Shaqab by 30-runs to win the 8th IBQ Masters Cricket division II Tournament.

After taking the first share of the crease, Metabo managed to post a score of 151 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs. Sanjeewa top scored with 34 runs with two sixes and three boundaries. Other major contributors were Shafi (22-runs) and Shaji (20-runs).

For Al Shaqab, Mashooq Khan claimed three wickets while Amjad Khan and Abdul Jabar claimed two and one wicket apiece.

In reply Al Shaqab lost early wickets. Opener Abdul Jabar was caught by wicket keeper Latif off Remil for two while Salim Kaiser was bowled scoring just one.

Apart from Noor (36-runs), Ateek (16-runs) and Kannan (12 runs) none of the batsmen could give much of a resistance to Metabo bowling attack. For Metabo, Shaji claimed three wickets, Shafi two wickets and Aziz, Remil, Sema, Sanjeva and Kusum took a wicket apiece.

Shaji for his all-round performance was declared the man-of-the-match finals.

Other awards: Best Batsman: Sanjeeva of Metabo; Best Bowler: Asif of QAPCO; Best Allrounder: Atiq  of Al Shaqab; Best Wicket Keeper: Nishantha of Force India.

The Chief Guest for the finals was Chandramohan Pillai, Head of Admin & Facilities, Guests of Honour were Mr. Bachchu Nazareth, Manager Electronic Banking at IBQ and Mr. Cedric Fonseca, Assistant Relationship Manager – Financial Institutions at IBQ. They said it was a great experience for IBQ to sponsor such a prestigious tournament with multi national participation. They were very happy with the response generated by the tournament.

The Prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well wishers. Over 300 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament. The Prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for spectators.
