Problems with bus terminal
Dear Sir,
The main Karwa bus station near Souq Waqif has some problems that need to be sorted out urgently. They are:
1)The taxi parking area behind the bus terminal is in a bad shape and is without asphalt and the vehicles driving in the area stir up a lot of dust.
2) Some people in the bus terminal feed birds. This is not a healthy practice. Many of these birds could be hosting parasites. Also, there are some food shops in the area and with so many birds flying and nesting nearby it raises questions about their hygiene.
3) I have noticed some of the bus passengers have the bad habit of spitting in the parking and bus bay area. This is not a good practice.
It would be appreciated if authorities put up some signboards and warnings against spitting and feeding the birds. The taxi parking area must be paved with asphalt or concrete.
An otherwise beautiful Doha deserves a cleaner bus terminal.

Cyprus must quit the euro
Dear Sir,
Cyprus has just lost its inherited right to decide its own destiny.
The present situation has been brought about by the inability to govern the nation wisely by all previous governments, banking greed, corruption, kommatokratia (politicocracy) union intransigence and the absence of the rule of law.
The troika (consisting of the EU, IMF and European Central Bank) is ready to devour the soul of all Cypriots, bit-by-bit like a cheese in a trap nibbled away by rats. The hidden agenda of the EU has finally been revealed: Cyprus was specifically used as a test case and the bailout was simply a pretext for what’s to come next.
The EU now has the green light to apply the same conditions on other member-states who face similar financial difficulties.
As for Cyprus it doesn’t stop here. Our natural gas has now become the ultimate trophy for the EU and others. If we fail to take serious precautions and put a stop to them, the troika will make sure to get its hands on those gas fields and a large share of the revenues. Their long-term plan is to enforce a “debtocracy” upon the nation through austerity measures and additional loans, loans Cyprus will never be able to repay - just like Greece. This trap is called colonial capitalism. It is a geopolitical game of control.
Getting out of the euro and Cyprus returning to its own currency is a good start and a way to stop the troika laying its hands on our natural gas resources. It is imperative for Cyprus to get out of the euro and the sooner the better. If it wants to survive as a nation and not remain an EU province, it needs to make drastic political and economic changes.
Prominent people like Archbishop Chrysostomos, C Pissarides, N Papadopoulos, Omirou, A Kyprianou (AKEL) have been expressing similar views. They all advocate a well-organised exit from this failed institution that has revealed sinister political and economic plans for the small island.
