Bhavan’s school gets CBSE affiliation for secondary classes

By Joseph Varghese/Staff ReporterBhavan’s Public School (BhPS) has received the affiliation from the Delhi-based Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for conducting secondary school classes, said the acting chairman of the school, J K Menon, during a press conference yesterday. He said the school will begin class nine from the new academic year starting from April. BhPS is the eighth school affiliated to the CBSE in Qatar. Menon said the school had added more sections to accommodate more children. “There is a huge rush for admission and we have added more sections to meet the demand. Accordingly, we have also recruited more teachers from India. Some 30 teachers will join the school by the end of this month. We have also appointed a new headmistress, Prabhavathi Nambiar.” Dr G Manulal, principal of the school, said the school would have classes from LKG to Class VI at both of its campuses - Al Wakrah and Matar Qadeem - for the next academic year for convenience of students. As for the academic affairs, Manulal said: “The school provides equal emphasis on both curricular and co-curricular activities. We have around 16 clubs in the school catering to various interests of the students. The school also has started a new programme named Centre for Educational Research and Training (CERT) providing opportunities to conduct research in pedagogical and psychological domains.” The school also claims to implement very effectively the Continuous Comprehensive Education (CCE) as directed by the CBSE. According to the principal, the school has a system for parents to assess the students’ personality and life skills. The school also provides importance to inclusive education for students with learning disorders which include students with ADHD, spastic, borderline autism, dyslexia and dysgraphia. The school has a strength of 1,500 students from 24 nationalities in two campuses.
