Ministry of Business and Trade goes smart

HE the Minister of Business and Trade Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz al-Thani launching the smart phone applications yesterday.

The Ministry of Business and Trade has introduced smart phone applications in its system of communications so as to provide electronic services to the public regarding  the ministry’s areas of operation and activities.

The applications were launched at a ceremony in the presence of HE the Minister of Business and Trade  Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz al-Thani and visiting French Minister of Foreign Trade  Nicole Bricq. Also present at the ceremony were members of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Highlighting the features of the new smart applications, the Minister said in a statement  that the public would now have easy access to information on daily prices of commodities and a better way to register complaints. “More innovations will be introduced within the next quarter,”  he said.

The information on prices of commodities will be, for the first time, in a comparative manner, said a press release issued by the ministry. The public will have access to the prices posted by the leading super and hypermarkets. It will be a transparent system that seeks to boost competition and offer better services.

If anyone has a complaint on a commodity and wishes to support it visually he could click a picture through the smart application, the release said.

“The initial response from the public to the new applications has been very encouraging,” said the ministry’s director of information technology, Mashayil al-Hammadi. “We have trained a team of our staff to handle the new applications and are fully prepared
