Spain, France march into semi-finals

Spanish cruised to a 3-1 win over Pakistan to enter the semi-finals of the Qatar Nations Cup on Saturday at the Al Wakrah Sports Club.

In the other quarter-finals matches France were held to a 1-1 draw by Syria before eventually winning 5-4 on penalties and Tunisia thrashed India 4-1, while Sudan ensured the final spot with a 3-0 win over Palestine. France will now play Tunisia in the first semifinal, while Sudan will try to contain Spain. The semi-finals will commence at 8.30am on March 15 at the Al Wakrah Sports Club.

The Qatar Stars League (QSL) has launched the tournament last month as part of a new community football programme aimed at engaging all communities in the country.
