QNA/DohaHH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, yesterday attended a panel discussion entitled Politics and Morals. The panel discussion is one of the events of the 1st International Conference Research Centre For Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) entitled Arts and Politics from an Ethical Perspective, being organised by the Research Centre for Islamic Legislation and Ethics. The panel, which saw the participation of a host of Islamic thinkers, artists and politicians, discussed the relationship between morals and politics. The panelists touched on how Islamic traditions can help reform politics.  The Centre was founded in 2012 as an organisation specialising in Islamic legislation and ethical thought with a focus on applied ethics. A Qatari medical doctor, Mahmood al-Jaidah, arrested at the Dubai airport for unexplained reasons has contacted his family on the telephone after 12 days of total suspense, according to a report in the local Arabic daily Al-Sharq.The report said that his wife was overjoyed when she heard his voice on the phone on Friday. He assured her that everything is fine with him and that he will be returning home soon. The doctor’s wife and the family members thanked the authorities for having helped in tracing his whereabouts. Father of four sons and four daughters, Dr Jaidah graduated in medicine from King Faisal University in Saudi Arabia in 1988 and joined the Hamad Hospital as a doctor for internal medicine. He later on moved to Qatar Petroleum where he heads its medical unit. Authorities are negotiating with the UAE authorities for his early return home.Pan Arab law panel to meetThe Pan Arab Committee for reviewing the law on action to be taken against those who slander and belittle religions will meet in Doha today under the chairmanship of HE the Minister of Justice Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanem. A report in the local Arabic daily Arrayah said that this meeting is taking place in implementation of the decision taken by the Arab Ministers of Justice at their recent meeting in Cairo, Egypt, in response to a proposal submitted by Qatar.
