A number of heads and directors of Italian companies participating in Project Qatar 2012 have said that the Qatari market has become more attractive, with the start of implementation of a number of mega projects announced by the State of Qatar in its preparations for hosting the World Cup in 2022.On the last day of Project Qatar, they said that the exhibition represented a good platform for access to the local market, enabling them to contact several Qatari companies, with some already signing agreements with local companies on the sidelines of the event.Simona Autuori, Deputy Trade Commissioner at the Italian Trade Commission, said that Italian participation in Project Qatar increases year after year as a result of large-scale projects that Qatar is planning to set up in the coming years, noting that there is coordination with the Italian Business Council in Qatar to work on increasing the number of Italian companies coming to the event next year.She explained that Project Qatar is a good platform to share information and meet with local companies, to find partners and companies to work with, adding that participation in such events is considered one of the most important ways to find work in Qatar.Palma Libotte, Chairperson of Italian Business Council in Qatar, said that the Council seeks to double the number of Italian companies participating in this event next year.She explained that the Italian Business Council has seen significant growth in the number of member companies, which has tripled over the past two years.She added that the Council seeks to establish the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Qatar soon, noting that it was already obtaining the approval of the Italian ambassador in Doha on this matter and he has expressed his support.Paola Tagliapietra, General Manager of STV Serrature, said that she has been able to contact several clients through this exhibition, and expects to deal with a number of Qatari companies soon.These comments were echoed by a number of Italian company CEOs, who look forward to another successful event next year.
