Qatar Foundation hired 71 nationals last year
Joseph Varghese/Staff Reporter Qatar Foundation hired 71 employees through Qatar Career Fair (QCF) 2012, disclosed Hassan al-Hammadi, executive director, Human Resources at Qatar Foundation yesterday. He also said that QF recruited another 93 graduates from high schools and universities as in-post trainees and provided 33 scholarships for high school graduates. He was speaking at the press conference to give the details of the QCF 2013 held at the Club House of Qatar Foundation. Hammadi said that as in 2012, this year also, Qatar Foundation would have an on-site fully equipped assessment centre to gauge the potential of the trainees. He explained: “Last year, about 289, individuals were assessed on site at Qatar Foundation’s assessment centre, and provided a detailed feedback on their potential in occupationally relevant areas and competencies. One of the other prominent features during QCF 2013 at the Qatar Foundation stand would be the one-to-one coaching offered by Qatar Foundation’s senior management” The executive director affirmed that Qatar Foundation’s vision was “Through education and research, Qatar Foundation leads human, social and economic development of Qatar, making Qatar a nation that can be a vanguard for productive change in the region and role model for the broader international community.” He also stated that Qatar Foundation has a well researched career development plan that lasts from six months to two years which is developed looking at the individual’s current potential, knowledge and future job requirements. He added that in support of the Qatar National Vision 2030, the central theme for all human resource activities in Qatar Foundation is leveraging the potential of its employees. Qatar Foundation was committed to support various events in schools and educational establishments to attract Qatari students. He elaborated: “Developing nationals and harnessing their potential is very central to our existence. Qatar Foundation aims, not only to offer employment opportunities but overall professional development of young graduates and experienced nationals. In this respect, we do regularly participate in Universities Career Fairs.” According to Hammadi, for Qatar Foundation’s plan to groom world class Qatar leaders, QCF is a very important activity on its calendar. He explained: “QCF helps corporates like us to directly interact with fresh national talent. This gives us an opportunity to reach out to them and offer development opportunities. Like previous years, Qatar Foundation stand will host some interesting and interactive activities and competitions.”
