Pier renovation a distant dream

Visitors watch the sun set behind the remains of the West Pier on the seafront at Brighton. Built in 1866 by Eugenius Birch, the pier has been closed since 1975, with storm damage and two serious fires jeopardising the likelihood of a promised renovation.
